good boots, they stay put!
I use these mostly for my OTTB mare who has scar tissue in her left front hoof where her coffin bone was broken. I often leave the boots on her overnight, and sometimes 2 or 3 days when the ground freezes. We have a huge pasture with steep hills, and the horses have to walk through the woods and down into a natural well to drink... and she has never lost a boot! The drain holes do help keep the hooves from getting waterlogged, but if you plan to keep the boots on overnight, you should use an antibacterial/fungal hoof dressing. I use a dressing with wintergreen oil that acts like liniment, putting that under boots with pads makes a big difference in her soundness overnight. I also use the boots on my sound barefoot horses for trailering and riding on pavement. Only thing I don't like about these boots is that the built in gaiter has worn out, so I sometimes have to use vetwrap on her heels. *Measure carefully, and USE THE SIZE CHART!* Boot sizes are not the same as shoe sizes!
