The Lusitano is one of the world's oldest breeds, and is closely related to the Andalusian of Spain. Originating on the Iberian Peninsula, the breed is known as the Puro Sangue Lusitano in Portugal today. This baroque horse was bred to be a war horse, and their courage and agility made them well-suited to be the mounts of bullfighters. These stunning horses are favored for classical dressage because of their refined and elegant movement.
