What's The Difference?
There are some key differences between plush toys and rope toys.
Plush Toys
Can be a dog's best friend (besides you of course). Some dogs will find a plush toy comforting and can be used to calm them down when they are taken in high anxiety locations. An example would be a teddy bear plush toy that accompanies your dog on vet visits.
Larger or more active dogs are more prone to see plush toys as prey. This is very common. Typically, larger dogs will completely destory plush toys. This is why it's important to pay a little extra to get a toy made from a higher quality material.Â
Depending on the exact weeve used to make the plush toy, some plush toys actually floss a dog's teeth as they bite on it.Â
Rope Toys
Rope toys are made typically made from rope or other durable materials. Most times they resemble large rope knots. These are great for teaching your dog the apporiate way to play with humans. Most dogs love playing tug of war with their owners. Rope toys can provide the bridge between you and your dog. Just remember, it's important to let your dog win here and there to encourage healthly play.Â
Rope toys can also be great for teething. But its important to monitor any toys your dog tends to chew on repeatedly. After repeatable play, a rope toy can begin to fall apart.
Rope toys are also know to floss your dog's teeth as they bite them. Having a toy that also cleans your dog's teeth, is a double plus.Â
Remember, if you have specific concerns about how your dog is playing with a toy, its best to talk to your vet about it.Â
