I actually use not for my horse but for me on my walks. If I stop for a break the mosquitoes start to swarm around me while thinking I’d make a nice lunch and the fly whisk keeps them off me. I did shorten the whisk end about 6 inches to make it more responsive and now it works a treat.

Whisk loses hair
