Wool is a great natural material and is put to perfect use in a saddle pad. Wool saddle pads help to relieve pressure points and evenly disperse the weight of the rider and saddle. They can also reduce saddle slippage due to sweat because the material is so absorbent. Wool absorbs moisture away from your horse and helps insulate against both cold and heat.

Taking care of a wool saddle pad is simple and easy. You should occasionally brush your pad with a curry brush to remove hair, dirt and sweat to prolong the life of your pad. To avoid shrinkage, do not use hot water to clean or heat to dry. To clean your pad you can use a soft cloth or sponge and mild shampoo or detergent-free soap and tepid water. Slightly dampen your cloth and add a small amount of soap. You can work up a lather on soiled areas and then rinse with clean water. Allow your pad to air dry in a well-ventilated area after cleaning.
